Bible Commentary Online

"Before the birth of the decree, the day shall pass like the chaff; yet not before the hot anger of Jehovah comes on you, yet not before the day of Jehovah's anger comes on you. Seek Jehovah, all the meek of the earth who have done His justice; seek righteousness; seek meekness. It may be you shall be hidden in the day of Jehovah's anger" (Zeph. 2:2,3)

Genesis 3

Gen. 3:15

"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He will bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel" (MKJV)

Commentary: the woman hostile to the serpent is the New Covenant as a tool for the fulfillment of the promise given by God to Abraham. As the head of the seed of the Covenant, Jesus Christ went through martyrdom because of his opponent's actions ("you shall bruise His heel"), but in the future as the head of the Body of Christ he will lead to the serpent's destruction ("He will bruise your head").

Genesis 15

Gen. 15:13

"And He said to Abram, You must surely know that your seed shall be a stranger in a land not theirs, and shall serve them. And they shall afflict them four hundred years" (MKJV)

Commentary: the period of 400 years mentioned in Genesis 15:13 is not the period of Egyptian bondage, but the period of oppression in a foreign land. Abraham did not receive Canaan as his own property during his lifetime. Both he, Isaac, and later Jacob, lived in a foreign land. In the study 'Bible Chronology Timeline' (link below), I explain that the period of oppression began with the persecution of five-year-old Isaac by Ishmael and ended with the Exodus from Egypt.
